Puzzle…….?

Three friends went to a hotel. The bill was Rs 75/-
Each one contributed Rs.25/-.
The waiter took the bill to the cashier.
The cashier was happy & decided to give them a discount of Rs.5/- & asked the waiter to return them Rs.5/-.
Now the waiter was confused. How to distribute Rs 5 among 3 persons?
He kept Rs 2 in his pocket & gave one rupee to each one of the 3 persons.
So initially each one had contributed Rs.25. Now as they are given 1 rupee back, their contribution reduces to Rs 24.
They all contributed Rs 24 — that is 24×3=72 & 2 rupees are in the waiters pocket.
The total becomes 74. But they had paid Rs 75.
Where is the remaining 1 rupee?.

The cashier must have it

no where there is no extra

    3 x 24 = 72 the waiters two are included in this 72

then the three rupees that each got back makes 72+3 = 75

you cant add the amount paid and the amount recieved.

the hotel recieves 75. they then spend 5 which means a total of 70 has been contributed. 70+ the 3 split between the lads + the 2 for the bellboy makes 75.

stop tryin to trick us with your crazy words :)

See, you screw it up when you do the math that way. First, you realize that the bill was 75rupees. Then, you take away 5 and get 70 rupees. Divide that by three and you will see exactly what each guest paid. Anyway, because each guest got 3 rupees back, and the waiter stole 2, that adds up to 5. Add that to the 70 and get 75. So you see, because you did the problem in the wrong order, you got the wrong answer.

    25 + 25 + 25 = 75

    75 - 5 = 70 (hotel keeps 70)

waiter takes the subtracted 5, keeps 2 and gives away 3

the 3 people above me are right, your logic is flawed

there is no other rupee, if the cost was 75 but the special was minus 70, the waiter had to give back 5 rupee,-2 for the waiter and there is 3. one per person
