How can you preserve a jigsaw puzzle?

Are there different ways that a puzzle can be saved? Has anyone ever tried to make a table with a puzzle top and if so how?

After putting the puzzle together, glue it onto a piece of thin wood or cardboard (my mother used to do that all the time).

To make a table top, affix the puzzle to the table top (exact fit) and have a piece of glass cut to fit and mounted to the table (over the puzzle). You can go to a local glass company for assistance.

you would probably have to glue the puzzle together somehow…but as for making a table..I'm not sure.

There are several ways to save a jigsaw puzzle. I've poured resin on the top of it to make a tray, let it dry, glued it to a piece of 3/4" plywood which you could add legs to make a table. (Upholstery shops sells a wide variety of different types of table legs or you can use spindles from the home improvement centers.) I've used spray adhesive to mount the puzzle on an already existing table top, then spray it with a non-yellowing polyurethane. I've also used decoupage medium to glue the pieces to wood and then used the same medium to coat the top to protect it.

My Neighbour had a table top made with a puzzle. She used decoupage liquid to perserve it. You can also buy a special glue just for puzzles.

This is a site to get puzzles. They have a product to preserve puzzles, and if I'm not mistaken, boards to mount them.
