Classic Game Room HD reviews JEWEL QUEST SOLITAIRE for Nintendo DS handheld video game system. It’s a puzzle game, it’s a card game, it’s on your Nintendo DS. This video game review from CGRHD has gameplay footage from Jewel Quest Solitaire for Nintendo DS showing game play. 114 different solitaire decks in a tri-peaks style of solitaire (which I’ve never heard of but it looks cool) combined with an interesting jewel themed puzzle game to increase scores is a fun and addictive way to kill hours of time. Presentation is strong, the use of the DS style in Jewel Quest Solitaire is good and overall replay value is high because of the challenge and quality of the game. Where’s the high score save feature though? While it’s not a game for everyone, those gamers who like card and puzzle games should get a kick out of this budget priced game for the Nintendo DS. Classic Game Room HD reviews Jewel Quest Solitaire on Nintendo DS as a Nintendo DS reviewer reviewing Nintendo DS puzzle and card video games with HD gameplay like Jewel Quest Solitaire. This is a UK release being played on an American Nintendo DS.

Pokémon Puzzle League - I Stink

For your information, this is the original Nintendo 64 version. I got it for $12 used, which is more than what the Virtual Console sells it for, but hey, this was before the Virtual Console. So yes, I recorded this directly off the Nintendo 64.

Here’s a bit of trivia for you: This is a Pokémon game made entirely in the United States. Pretty rare, even more so that it, along with Pokémon Yellow, are the only Pokémon games to take direct inspiration from the TV show. So we have Ken Sugimori imitators with full FMVs, rare for a cartridge game. Not unlike Triplets of Belleville imitators with full FMVs in Professor Layton.

I’m actually uploading this as a call to YuuGiJoou (or Queen of Games, apparently), who has a lot of videos of Panel de Pon, the original game that this is an American port of. Check them out at:

If you ever want to watch YouTube videos of puzzle games, I guess…

This video will take you through the opening video and the initial battle against Gary. Ash accepts Profesor Oak’s invitation to Puzzle League Village (I’ll bet the locals are annoyed at having such a stupid name for their home) and gets right to it, challenging everybody in sight to Panel de Pon. Or Tetris Attack, if you prefer. The first challenger is Gary, who makes fun of Ash, then beats him, then decides to mess with Ash by making him win.

By the way, if you don’t know how Panel de Pom works, you’ll learn. It’s not hard to understand.

No need to call them Satoshi or Shigeru here–there’s no Japanese version of this game, which makes it doubly interesting that the artists for this game were able to make everything look so authentic. (Remember that this is an American game, so we have a different team of artists, animators, and designers.)

By the way, the Pokémon used have no effect on your battle. They’re just there to hang out in the background and provide voice samples when you do chains.

Here’s the solution to all of the puzzles in stages 4, 5 and 6 of the first round, for those who get stuck I hope this helps. Because the first three stages are rather trivial I skipped those in the process.

Tetris Attack and Panel De Pon have the same set of puzzles so this video will do for both. Since that didn’t matter I used the less common PDP as the ‘background’. :P

Ainiku kokoniwa/Mou atarashii tsukurikakeno puzzle

english:

Where was it? That small happiness I was looking for
Unfortunately not even a fragment of love is to be found

The hidden red piece, why is it here?
Filling up the hole with this given time

The distance so far, my vision a blur
Grasp it and bury it again

Everytime you grow impatient the time limit nears
My fingers are already shaking

I can see the way
The distance between us two is not enough
I can see the way
Bury these words

From here on our world grows countlessly,
voices overlapping and now
Illuminating our path, one day it will echo
loudly resonating our answers

free for all

Where was it? The fragment that disappeared without reason that day
Unfortunately all that is left is this newly made puzzle
